En 1909, la artista Pamela Colman Smith, bajo la dirección de Arthur Edward Waite, creó una innovadora baraja de tarot de 78 cartas que llegaría a ser reconocida como revolucionaria. Con imágenes descriptivas en las 56 cartas de Arcanos Menores, la baraja Rider-Waite se desvió de la tradición de la baraja de tarot utilizada durante siglos y estableció el estándar para casi todas las barajas de tarot publicadas.

In 1909, artist Pamela Colman Smith, under the direction of Arthur Edward Waite, created an innovative 78-card tarot deck that would come to be recognized as revolutionary. With descriptive pictures on the 56 Minor Arcana cards, the Rider-Waite deck digressed from the tradition of tarot deck used for centuries and set the standard for nearly every tarot deck published.
